What is the idea behind facial rejuvenation?

Dr. Warren Roberts introduces facial rejuvenation at the 4th International Heraeus Dental Symposium at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry in Scottsdale, Arizona.

When you ask a patient to smile, they look at more than just their teeth- they look at their face as a whole. We, as dentists tend to get stuck just looking inside the mouth and get bogged down with all the dental particulars. A patient sees their face with lines and wrinkles, the position of their lip when they smile etc. Dentists are fortunate to be able to treat more than just the teeth – we can make an impact on the entire face.

As dentists, we are trained in detail in the area of the head and neck. Our university training focused extensively in this area. But back in private practice we tend to focus more and more on just the teeth, forgetting the bigger picture. And with the technological advances in ceramics and bonding etc we have been able to do wonderful things with enhancing smiles. However, we need to come back to the basic anatomy we were taught in dental school, remember that the smile encompasses the entire face and realize that we need to treat more than just the teeth. Smile design and facial rejuvenation (Botox®, fillers, lasers, etc) go hand-in-hand. Dr. Roberts provides dentist Botox® training at the highest educational level available.
