Setting Canadian Standards

Since 2008, PTIFAT has been leading the industry by offering the highest level of injectable training available. Recognizing the level of teaching offered by PTIFAT in 2013, Dr. Roberts was asked to consult with College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta to help create the Standard of Practice of Facial Esthetic Therapies & Adjunctive Procedures (FETAP)The goal of creating the FETAP Standard was to ensure that practitioners achieve a high-level of clinical efficacy & proficiency through anatomy-based training, prior to learning and performing advanced aesthetic procedures. This Standard of Practice currently is highest standard in the world.

New Canadian Standard

The CDSA has shared the Standard with all dental regulatory boards in Canada. As of September 2024, 9 of the 10 provinces have adopted, or are in the process of introducing the Standard within their jurisdiction.

In recognition of this commitment to excellence, PTIFAT was the first educational provider to be accredited by the CDSA. PTIFAT has always believed that there are no substitutes for providing unparalleled instruction and patient care. Today, all our courses exceed the educational and training requirements outlined by the Standard of Practice of FETAP.

PTIFAT is also approved by the American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) which provides ADA members and the dental community a mechanism to select quality continuing dental education (CE) with confidence and promotes the continuous improvement of continuing dental education both nationally and globally.

More About the Canadian Standard of Practice

A key component of the Standard of Practice notes that other allied health professionals can provide facial aesthetic procedures in a dental clinic (ie: MD’s, Registered Nurses or Pharmacists), howevever they must have equivalent FETAP level of training. As such, any treatment rendered or by the delegated health professional must be compliant with the CDSA IPC Standards, even if their regulatory body (College of physicians / College of Registered Nurses) notes a lower standard.
